Customizing Your Family Account
Famplan gives you flexible options to customize your family account to match your specific needs. Here's how to adjust your settings to make Famplan work best for your family.
Sign-in Method Preferences
You can choose which sign-in methods are available for your family members:
- Navigate to Family Settings → Sign-in Options
- Enable or disable any of the following methods:
- Email and Password (recommended for all members)
- Google Account sign-in (convenient for adults)
- Magic Email Links (good for occasional users)
- Phone Number verification (useful for teens without email)
We recommend enabling multiple sign-in options to ensure all family members can access the account easily.
Family Member Verification
For added security, you can require email verification when adding new family members:
- Go to Family Settings → Security
- Toggle the "Require Email Verification" option
When enabled, new family members will need to verify their email before gaining access to family boards. This adds security but might delay access for younger members who don't check email regularly.
Notification Preferences
Manage how your family receives updates and reminders:
- Go to Family Settings → Notifications
- Customize notification settings for:
- Task assignments and deadlines
- Calendar events and reminders
- New board additions
- Family announcements
Each family member can also set their personal notification preferences in their individual profile settings.
Privacy Controls
Famplan gives you control over what information is shared within your family:
- Navigate to Family Settings → Privacy
- Adjust settings for:
- Child account visibility restrictions
- Personal task privacy options
- Information sharing with extended family
- Data retention policies
For families with children of different ages, we recommend reviewing these settings regularly as your family's needs evolve.
Account Recovery Options
Ensure you never lose access to your family account by setting up recovery options:
- Go to Family Settings → Account Recovery
- Add backup email addresses and phone numbers
- Designate secondary admin accounts
We recommend having at least two recovery methods to ensure you can always access your family's important information.
